A work of art

I share with you hereby a picture of Lorenzo Biggi's 2024 artwork entitled "Umorismo e crudeltà" (aka "Humour and Cruelty" aka "Húmor og grimmd"). It is based on the book series by the same title, published by De Gruyter in 2022-2024, and authored by Ársæll Már Arnarsson and yours truly. The allegorical drawing was presented at the 2025 ISHS (International Society for Humor Studies) Annual Conference, which was held in Krakow, Poland, where my talk's title was "One Picture Is Worth 727,644 Words" (a very literal-minded and unsuspecting professor of engineering attending the conference told me that, before coming to Poland, he had tried to "reverse-engineer the title of [my] talk," but had obtained no viable result...). The artwork was then exhibited at the University of Akureyri, and it would have stayed on a wall there in perpetuity, had a toxic mold not forced all staff members to abandon their offices and have all items either destroyed or stored away for fumigation or sterilisation at some future point in human history. Basically, my latest written works are running commentaries of that allegory, which is itself based on a dream that I had after completing the four-book mammoth study... It couldn't be more Jungian than this! Well, alright, it could be in German...
